A christmas tree has been branded 'an insult' to a County Durham town.
The tree was meant to be the centrepiece of festive celebrations at Peterlees Castle Dene.
It was put up and decorated with the usual coloured lights and was switched on by pop star Natasha Hamilton from the girl band 'Atomic Kitten.' She also performed a string of hits in front of the tree.

Well, I don't know why they are moaning.....do you?

Oh my! I must take a photo of ours to share. Saturday Santa arrives by lobster boat, the tree is lit, and carols sung. Don't know if I'll get there for that but surely in the days that follow. Keep an eye out.

At least there won't be many needles to clear up.

Is that the credit crunch biting, or a general apathetic statement by the council or whoever put the tree up... it's a shame even our parish council have done better.
