These are some photos we took of the ww1 war graves in Etaples, France.
There are flowers on every grave, and as you can see the upkeep of them is excellent.

It was a very emotional day.

Dear Annette,

Many thanks for sharing these moving pictures with us. To think there are many cemeteries like Etaples in France and the rest of Europe including the UK of course. I was thinking of you and your extended family on Christmas Eve when the sad news of Royal Marine Ben Whatley's death on peace keeping service in Southern Helmand Province came through. His home base was here at 42 Commando, Bickleigh Barracks,Plymouth. I immediately thought of your nephew Sean Reeve and all the other Fallen Heroes who have given their lives in the service of this country. Christmas must have been a very sombre affair for all the families of these brave men and women. We can only hope and pray that 2009 will bring a peaceful solution to all the conflicts around the world and that those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice will not have died in vain. We must live in hope for a better future.

May 2009 be a peaceful and rewarding year for you and yours. Kind Regards, David aka Old Plod of Plympton.
