Good for all of you that went on the march.

Having read all these blogs about that day, and how far you all walked,(worth it though wasn't it!) and how well it all went.

But the one thing that keeps being mentioned is the amount of fun you had! Whether you went straight home or not, I bet you all talked and cheered at the amount of people that turned up that day.You probably discussed how it was planned, who did what, and after all the hard work, how pleased you were because it went so well.

You may have read the posting I did about the demos I have been on and I said then about the fun we had. And we did.
You do feel great, you feel you have done something and others have heard your voice.
You feel proud that you made the effort and went.

Well done all of you.

You never know, you might get hooked on this!!

Good Luck for tomorrow.
I hope everything goes well.
Just a couple of jokes to cheer us up on this cold January day.

A woman in her 40's went to a plastic surgeon for a face lift.
He explained that there was a new procedure called 'The Knob' where a knob is placed on the back of the womans head and she can turn it to tighten up her skin to give the effect of a brand new face lift.
The woman readily agreed to this and the knob was placed on the back of her head.
Over the years the woman tightened the knob and the effect was wonderful. The woman looked young and vibrant.
After 15 years she started to have problems so she went back to the surgeon.
"Whats wrong?" He asked.
"Well, she said looking alarmed ," I have these great big bags under my eyes."
The surgeon went over and looked at the womans face.
"These are not bags under your eyes," He said.
"Those are your breasts."

A wealthy man came home from a gambling trip and told his wife he had lost their entire fortune.
"If only you could cook," He said. "we could fire the chef."
"Yes dear," She replied. "And if you could learn how to make love, we could fire the gardener."

A couple of days ago Whichendbites did a blog called:
How to make a woman happy.
It was very good and yes, I think it would make women happy.
That made me think and I wondered:

Are men Happier?

Reasons for this statement:

Your last name stays the same

Wedding plans take care of themselves

Wedding dress= £2000.00 Tux rental =£100.00

You can never be pregnant

People never stare at your chest when you speak to them

3 pairs of shoes are more than enough

The same hairstyle last you for years

You only have to shave your face and neck

You can wear shorts no matter what your legs look like

If someone forgets to invite you, he/she can still be your friend

You can wear a white T-shirt to a water park

You can wear NO T-shirt to a water park

The occasional well-rendered belch is practically expected

You can play with toys all your life

Your world is your urinal

You never have to drive to another petrol station toilet because this one is to icky

You can open your own jars

You know things about tanks

Tell this to a woman who can handle it and to the men who will enjoy reading it.

There's quite a few of you that have been doing:

7 random things about yourself:

So, I thought I would join in and have a go as well.

1. I hate wednesdays.
2. I hate spiders.
3. I hate injustices of any sort and no matter who by.
4. I get angry easily about this and wish I could meet the person who done the injustice.
5. I hate those bloody road humps, to the extent I could blow them all up.
6. I hate the way we don't seem to have any privacy any more.
7. I have just looked at the last 6 'random things' and realizes what a miserable old f**t I am.

So there we are.

The End.

I hope that you will get 2.5% pay rise.

Good Luck.

At the begining of November my sister Yvonne, rang me up and asked me if we would like to go to Jeff's (her husband) birthday party. I was a little surprised because they live in Oxford and we don't normally meet for birthday parties. But then she explained that it was Jeff's 60th birthday and she wanted to hold a surprise birthday party for him with all the family there.
I immediately said yes and looked forward to it.
Jeff's birthday was actually the 18th December but you cannot book anywhere because they are all booked up for christmas parties so she told us it would have to be in November, not December.
Jeff was a very popular man who would do anything for anyone, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He would always laugh and joke with you about anything. He was always smiling, his life was perfect. Two lovely children and a lovely grandaughter, Keira and a lovely home he had worked hard to get.
This he did especially with my mum, Ruth and my stepfather Bruce. My mum is 78 and Bruce is 76, and they both have trouble with walking and are unable to do a lot of the things we take for granted.
When we all left home my mum and Bruce moved into a bungalow and it was yvonne and jeff who helped them move, taking all their belongings in their car and making sure they were settled. They had a small garden and it was Jeff who used to go around and see to it, because he loved gardening. Every sunday they were either at my mums or my mum and Bruce would go round to see them at their home. They never went a week without seeing each other. If they needed to see a doctor or had any other appointment it would be yvonne or jeff that would take them.

Yvonne had met jeff in 1972 and married in 1974. They have two children Dawn and Darren.

Dawn is 31 and she married a lovely man, Simon 2 years ago, they have got one daughter, Keira who is now 8 months old.

Darren who is 29 is still at home and he has been with his girlfriend, Donna, for 1 year, they are not planning to get married just yet as Donna is still at university.

Yvonne emailed us and told us she had arranged the party to be held on Saturday 24th November at the Old Bell Inn in Maidenhead. She had arranged a room for us all and said there was going to be 14 of us all together. Jeff is not one for parties as such so it was just going to be a meal and drinks.

We made our way to maidenhead on the 24th and went straight to our rooms. We were all asked to stay out of sight until yvonne and jeff arrive at the hotel.
Her daughter Dawn was keeping an eye out for them and when she saw them coming down the road in their car she rang us and asked us to go to the bar and wait for yvonne and jeff.
This we did, then we watched as they walked in and we all turned around and said HI Jeff.

His face was a picture. he couldn't believe what he could see. Myself and geoff, Bob and rosellen,(my brother and sister in law), Adrian, (Hes a friend from years back), Their daughter Dawn and simon, her husband, and their beautiful daughter Keira, their son Darren and his girlfriend Donna, Simon's mum and dad, and two friends they hadn't seen for years. Yvonne had found them and asked them to join them at the party. This they did willingly.

Jeff was overwhelmed and he became quite emotional. After half an hour or more he had settled down and yvonne told him that she had done it for his special birthday. They were of course loads of jokes going around, like getting his pension, yvonne helping him up the stairs etc.etc.
The night was wonderful, we had a few drinks and then went into the dining room for dinner.
We had a great time and yvonne had even made a special cake for him. Jeff loves gardening and he works for Oxford city council as a gardener. He goes around to all the pensioners houses and flats and he does their gardens for them. He loves this work and he himself has entered the Oxford Mail gardening competitions. He came second last year. His garden is like a palace.
Everything was great and the next day (sunday) we all went home, having enjoyed the weekend with Jeff.

Two weeks later I received a phone call from yvonne saying that jeff was in hospital.
Apparently that weekend jeff got up on the sunday complaining that his legs were weak and funny. He tried to go up the stairs but his legs gave way and he collapsed. Luckily Darren, his son was there and he helped him into bed. yvonne called the doctor. The doctor came but could not really explain what the reason was for this, he gave him some tablets and went.
The hours passed and jeff was no better, so yvonne called the doctor again this time the doctor sent him to hospital for test.
The tests came back and it was found that his own antibodies was fighting his own body. Yvonne explained that they were both bad a few weeks before and it only lasted a weekend. The doctors said that was the reason jeff's antibodies was still fighting, although not the virus, they had turned to fighting jeff's own body. The treatment for this was five days on a drip of antibodies. That would slow his anti bodies down and get him back to normal.
That was the monday.

I called yvonne on the monday and asked how he was, yvonne said he was fine but she was still a little worried about him as this is quite an uncommon thing to happen.
I told her that now jeff was in hospital he would be fine, as the doctors and nurses would now look after him.

Thursday afternoon we received a call from yvonne.

Jeff was seriously ill.

Then yvonne explained that jeff had been doing very well with his treatment but what nobody had anticipated was the brain haemorrage he had suffered.
He had had the haemorrage on Wednesday while still in hospital and they had operated on him and kept him on a life support machine.

Yvonne, like us, could not believe what had happened and she went to see the doctor and asked if the two illnesses had been somehow connected to each other.

The doctors said no, they were completely seperate illnesses.

No-one knew Jeff was going to have a brain haemorrage as he showed no sings of anything being wrong, by that I mean, no headaches, nothing. The peculiar thing about the haemorrage was it was in fact a most unusal haemorrage. The vein at the base of the skull had become 'departed' from the skull and it was that that had caused the haemorrage.

When the doctors explained this there was a silence for a while and then the doctors asked her if they could remove Jeff's brain, to test it. She was horrified of the thought of this and immediatley said no. The doctors asked her to think about this again and gave her time to consider it again. They explained that although they know what happened they don't know why it happened.
They explained that it was for research.
They said that when they had finished the research they would replace Jeff's brain and she could then bury him, this would take 6-8 weeks.
Yvonne found this so upsetting and said that she could not allow this because Jeff would have his memories.

On Thursday the doctors told yvonne that they must switch the machine off because jeff had died 24 hrs ago on the wednesday. Although officially, because he was on the life support machine he was still 'alive'.

Yvonne had their daughter Dawn and their son Darren with him when they switched the machine off.
He died peacefully at 3.45 p.m. thursday afternoon.

He was 59 years old.

The funeral was the 18th december, it would have been his birthday.

He was being cremated but yvonne had arranged to have a service for him in the small church where they had married and Dawn and Darren had been christened.
My other sister Lorraine who now lives in Australia was unable to come for the funeral.
However, lorraine belongs to a choir and she has made a demo tape which she sent to us a while back. This was played as they brought jeff into the church.

It was a lovely service but still no-one can believe what has happened. It is such a shock to us all.
Dawn and Darren have been a tower of strength to yvonne, I have never met such a close and loving family. We must not forget that yvonne has lost a loving husband and Dawn and Darren have lost their father.
We cannot believe that he was taken from us when he had worked so hard and was so happy.

The only thing left to say is:

Goodnight jeff, god bless.

As you can probably see I have just posted the hitmap map. It hasn't done it properly but that doesn't matter, it still registers anyone reading my bloggs.
It has taken me ages, but there you are, I'm so useless on this computer.

I had to laugh though, it came up saying I had 5 hits and so I went to see where the 'hits' came from.

4 from Ipswich
1 from Newcastle.

Who are these people???

Did any of you watch the final of the X factor?

We did and for the first time ever we phoned in to support Rhydian.
Well, I would have if they had let me. The phones weren't working proper.
All I got was "the phones lines are now closed."

On the television it was saying: telephone lines are now open for voting.

How could Leon win that???
He was tuneless, in fact I don't know why he was in the final, do you?

200weeks has done a blog about the policemen that are on facebook and he has a link to the newspaper report on it, and on that page is also a piece about the phone lines not working on the X factor programme.

I'm not saying it was fiddle it could simple have been a mistake somewhere along the lines, but Leon better than Rhydian?

I don't think so.

Hi.
I am Geoff, Annette's old man, and i have been regaled for months and months bout her coppers blog or should i say blah blah blah blag. By the great balls of Jeddah where do you get such a load of acrimony from.
Having read the latest gung ho raid by dozens (6) of armed police to arrest just one frail old lady beggars belief given the Menezes row, added to which must be the speeding coppers, also those who stood and watched a young boy drown because they were toooo untrained or toooo
incompetent to get wet. Rather than whingeing on about your pay increase i would have thought a PAY CUT would have been more appropriate. UP THE WORKERS.

I have been reading 200 weeks blog for quite a while and I saw that he had found out what his blog rating was.

So I thought I would do that as well,

This is the result:

My blog is rated 17.
Under 17s requires accompanying parent or adult guardian.

Apparently it says that I have used the words:

sex 13x

breast 7x

pain 1x

What does that look like!!!

What kind of blog site do they think I have?!!!

Go on, please, be a devil, try it and see how they rate yours....this will be interesting!

There was a knock on our front door and as I walked towards it I could see a silhouette of a man dressed very smartly in a dark suit.
Wondering who this could be I carefully opened the door.

"Hello," He said. "what do you think of Gillian Gibbons?"

"Er, pardon?" I said.

"I just wondered what you thought of the school teacher Gillian Gibbons? Do you think she was right?" He asked.

"May I ask who you are?" I asked.

"I'm Malcolm, I am a Jehovah witness." He replied with a big beaming smile.

"Oh, I see." I said

"Do you go to church?" He asked.

I smiled at him (which probably put him off anyway) and said.

"I'm sorry, I am not into discussing my personal details with a stranger and not on the doorstep." I said

"Oh, well what do think about whats going on in this world, will it ever get better?" He asked.

Quietly sighing and taking a deep breathe I repeated what I had just said to him.

"well, we are waiting for god." He replied.

"Really?" I asked. "Well, he's been here for about two and a half thousand years, just how long are you going to wait?"

I was surprised that he looked surprised.

He put his hands together as if going to say a prayer, he then turned and walking down the path he wished me a good day.

Something I said?
Last night we watched the film....."300"

Spartan king Gerald Butler leads his brave, fearless, elite warriors against the all conquering persian invaders.
It's bloody, very bloody but I have never seen such a fantastic film.
I was on the edge of my seat all through this film

If you can watch it, then please do.

It's spectacular.
Well, we've had snowflake, no , snowball, I mean snowdrop for a week now and we still get her name wrong. However, she's settling in lovely, although she hasn't been out yet. Apparently you have to keep them in for 2 weeks and then, this is the funniest thing I have ever heard, apparently, before you let them out you have to put butter on their paws!! It somehow tells them where they live so they don't get lost. Summat like that.

Snowdrop is 2 years old and she had been living a man, who had died suddenly, no-one knew he was ill.
He had 13 cats altogether!!!

Anyway, for the first 3-4 days days all she did was hide. We could not find her anywhere, although we knew she had to be in the lounge somewhere we searched high and low for her.Eventually finding her in some smallest gap. Her fav place to hide is behind the t.v. right in the corner, you can't reach her at all.
I did not realise how they could sqeeze into the smallest gap there is.
But now she is all over us.

The biggest laugh we had was when my neighbour asked how she was and I told her all about her hiding and that she didn't really take to me at all. She seemed to jump whenever I got up and did anything. She didn't like a lot of noise, it made her jump. But she loved geoff and sat on his lap most nights and even fell asleep. (The cat I mean)
Well, Dorothy asked if I knew why she hadn't taken to me and I said I didn't know really.
Dorothy laughed and said:"Well, who is it that gets up and washes up, who is it that gets up and makes the drinks after your meal?"
I said:"Well me."
She said: "percisely, geoff sits in his chair nice and quiet and peacful while your rushing around doing everthing!"

God, we laughed.

You see, snowdrop had been living with a man, so you can guess what he did all day.

Nothing!!!

Just sat in his chair, and that is why she disliked me running around disturbing her peace and quiet!!!

Well, we laughed, although geoff wasn't very pleased, and she said that that was what the previous owner probably had done.
Sat in his chair not doing a lot!!!

Anyway, will take some photos and try to post them on here for you see her.

I admit she's gorgeous.

I haven't blogged for a while, have I?
Yes, I'm sure you all did a big sigh of relief, but I'm back now.

The reason is because I have been so busy what with christmas coming up and every weekend I've actually been out and about.
No-where in particular just visiting family.

Anyway, today we went to a dog sanctuary, and picked up a cat.
Yes thats right.
Now I'm not particulary a cat person, as I much prefer dogs. But I admit that this one is a beautiful cat, it's a tortoise shell colour with white patches.
Her name is "Snowdrop."
Lovely name isn't it?
Since losing our beloved Becky five years ago, we just haven't been able to see a dog that will fit in with our life. We keep looking for becky again. That is so wrong for any new dog we would have had. So now we have a cat!!

Just a line about Laura, as I said thankyou for you're lovely comments, it made me feel so much better.

Laura has had two courses of chemotherapy, the second one today actually. She has to have 6 courses (one every 3 weeks) and then she will have her breast removed probably in January.
She is looking a little haggard and stressed but not as bad as we all thought she would.
I expect she is still in shock as it happened so quickly.

She has just started to loose her hair which surprised us all, we didn't think it would happen that quickly.
She has bought herself two wigs (very expensive but worth it) as the N.H.S.wigs are not that good. I have seen other women wear those when they had chemotherapy for their cancer, and I must admit they don't always match your colour anyway.
Still, they do help but you still have to pay a little towards them.

She has a good atitiude about it, she keeps saying she must fight this and she is reading books from other women who have had it. Famous actresses etc.

Will update you as it goes.

Thanks again.

I must admit these are not my jokes. I have seen them on another blog site and thought you might enjoy them.

Recent research shows there are 7 kinds of sex.

The 1st kind of sex is called: Smurf sex
This kind of sex happens when you first meet someone and you have sex until you are blue in the face.

The 2nd kind of sex is called: Kitchen sex
This is when you have been with your partner for a short time and you are so horny you will have sex anywhere, even in the kitchen.

The 3rd kind of sex is called: Bedroom sex
This is when you have been with your partner for a long time. Your sex has gotton routine and you usually have sex in your bedroom.

The 4th kind of sex is called: Hallway sex
This is when you have been with your partner for too long. When you pass your partner in the hallway you both say "Screw you."

The 5th kind of sex is called: Religious sex
This is when you get Nun in the morning, Nun in the afternoon, Nun at night.

The 6th kind of sex is called: Courtroom sex
This is when you can't stand your wife anymore. She takes you to court and
screws you in front of everyone.

The 7th kind of sex is called: Social security sex
This is when you get a little each month but not enough to live on.

A drunk stumbles along a baptismal service on a sunday afternoon down by the river. He goes down into the water and stands next to the preacher.

The minister turns round and notices the old drunk and says:
"Are you ready to find Jesus?"

The drunk looks back and says:
"Yes preacher I sure am."

The minister then dunks the fellow under the water and pulls him back up.
"Have you found Jesus yet?" The minister asks.

"No, I haven't." Said the drunk

The preacher the dunks him under for a bit longer, brings him up and asks:
Now, brother, have you found Jesus?"

"No, no I haven't." Said the old drunk.

The preacher, in disgust holds the man down under for at least 30 seconds and then pulls him back up. He says in a harsh voice:
My good man, have you found Jesus yet?"

The old drunk wipes his eyes and asks the preacher:
"Are you sure this is the place where he fell in?"

Jean Charles de Menezes

Jean Charles de Menezes was shot dead because detectives mistook him for failed July 21st suicide bomber Hussain Osman, who had tried to blow up a London tube train the previous day.

A surveillance team were watching a block of flats in London because they thought that Hussain Osman was there.

There was also confusion in the control room and the firearm officers did not know what the stragety was, should anyone leave the building they were watching.

Jean Charles de menezes also lived in the block and flats and while the spotter was absent de Menezes had left the building.

This is where the confusion starts.

They followed de Menezes to the railway station, thinking he was Osman, and they asked repeatedly if they could arrest him, but they were told to hold back and wait for the firearms team to handle the arrest.
This they did.

There are reports that when the firearms officers turned up they asked him to stop, he didn't. This is when they thought they had the right man.
Why didn't he stop?

Because he is an illegal immigrant.

Well, we all know what happened next.

They shot him.

Yes, it was a mistake, he was not the man they were looking for.

You see, Jean Charles de Menezes is not the innocent man that the media is trying to make out.
He is an illegal immigrant. He should have returned home 2 months ago.
I'm not saying that he deserves to be shot, of course not, but lets face it, if he had gone home, he would not have been in the area at that time.

The reason I think no-one should resign over this is because once a mistake like this has been made, they sure as hell won't make the same mistake again.

How many times have you made a mistake whether it is at work or in your personal life and you thought to yourself:
"I'll never do that again."
I know I have.
Well, Sir Ian Blair and Cressida Dicks will make sure that that will never happen again.

That is why I am against anyone resigning.

David Copperfield

David Copperfield has been blogging now for at least two years, and what an impact he has had.
Along with many I often wondered who this man is.
Well, now we know.

Stuart Davidson is his real name.

He has captured many a moment with all of you agreeing with him that policing is not what it was or what it should be.

One of the most significant posting he has done is about the amount of paperwork you have to do. Many other postings is about the way policing is now heading.

You feel trapped in a world of human rights and not just about catching the criminals. You feel you cannot just go out and 'get them', you have to justify yourself and make sure that no-one accuses you of being 'over the top' or racist.
Regardless of what they have done or the way they have done it.

I have been reading his blogs for about a year now and take a great interest of how you all see things in the criminal world.
You are angry and frustrated and feel everyone is trying to stop you doing 'your job'.

As I am a MOP I can assure you that I think you all do a grand job and not one that I could do.
It takes a certain kind of person to fill that criteria.
I am not one of them.

Why then, do I feel we are losing such a talented and intelligent young man?
He knows just what he is talking about, and the majority of you all support him.

I can understand his and your frustration of feeling like you are not understood and never heard, but it is a special kind of work and takes a special kind of man to do it.

So why then, does David Copperfield re Stuart Davidson, feel he has to leave not only the police force but this country, to make a better living for himself and his family?

Strong men like Stuart are needed.
He will be heard and so will you.

You have the backing of us all.

Thankyou all for your lovely comments concerning my last blog about Laura.
You have been very supportive and it made a big difference to the way I was feeling towards the problem.

Laura will be seeing the consultant about her operation next week, on Tuesday. She was going to see him last Monday but he was away.
She now has been told she will need two operations, one to have her breast removed and one to have her lymph modes removed as well.
I didn't even know they could remove the lymph modes but apparently they can.

So we will know more from Tuesday.

Well just to add to things I have been away from work all week with a chest infection and head cold.
So, there we are.
I have anti biotics from the doctor and he has signed me off work for another week.

Oh dear, Oh dear.

Can you hear the violins playing?

Violin

Never mind, it can only get better, as they say.

Thanks again.

Sunday, October 14, 2007

Last tuesday we received a phone call from Laura, my step daughter. She was worried because she had found a lump in her breast.
We explained that she must go to the doctor immediately. This she did.

They examined her and took a biopsy of the lump and she had a mammogram.

She got the result on Friday 12/10/07

She has breast cancer.

When she saw the consultant he explained that they try to remove the cancer but unfortunately, in her case, they can't.
She has to have her breast removed.

The cancer is spreading and she will need chemotherapy as well.

Geoff is devastated and so is all the family.
But we will have to be strong and support her. It's not going to be easy for her.

Laura, 43, is married to Martin and they are both on their second marriage.
Martin has two teenage girls from his previous marriage and they get on so well.

Martin is devastated as you can imagine.

What really gets to us is that Laura has always looked after herself so well.

She is so carefull what she dinks and eats. She really is in to all the healthy foods.

She is slim and, well, so healthy in that way. She does not smoke.

I know for a fact that smoking does not cause breast cancer. I have been told this by my consultant, who I have been seeing for about 5 years now.
I have had problems with my breast because I get infections and cycsts. In fact I now where a lap seat belt because I can't stand the pain of the seat belt across my chest.
My doctor has said he will make me exempt from wearing a seat belt if it gets to bad, but the lap seat belt is fine.

I have to see him every six months for a check up. He does not let me go.

I say this because if I developed cancer I could understand it more.

But not Laura.

Laura will be seeing the consultant on monday about the operation so I will keep you informed.

Sorry this is not a happy blog but I just have to tell you.

Are you as fed up with people keep asking you personal questions when it's none of their bloody business?

This week we have had three people knocking on our front door asking us to join their gas/electric companies.
Why do they expect you to stand there and tell them who you are with at the moment and how much your bills are??

It's none of their business and I don't answer their questions.

They then turn the old "theres no need to be rude" attitude on, and although I haven't in the least been rude to them they think they are going to win you over and you will tell them your business.

Well, NO, NO, NO.

I will not.

The final straw came today when I went into the town after work to get some pain killers.

I took them to the counter and the questions I was asked!!!

"Have you took these before?"
"How many a day do you take?"
"Have you seen a doctor about your problem?"

"YES I HAVE!!" I yelled.
My problem is an old back problem I've had for years and yes my doctor knows how many I take.......AND IT'S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!!!"

It makes my blood boil, these personal things are only what me and my doctor know and thats the way it will stay!!!

Nothing is private anymore.

God help you if you take a prescription in!!!

Shame of the T word

Shame of the n word.

Tory Emma Pentreath has had her face painted black and fellow Tory Philip Clarke has posted it on the Facebook site.

This was supposed to be a light hearted bit of fun and yes you could say it is, until you read the article with it.

Underneath her picture was the words:

"Nigger Minstrel"

This was meant to refer to the Tories "Black and white minstrel ball."

I will now quote from the Daily Mirror paper it says:
A caption reads: "Emmas career in politics lies in tatters after she follows Ann Winterton's lead and dresses as a "nigger minstrel" for the Tory black and white ball."

Ann Winterton was the Tory MP who cracked those terrible jokes about the Chinese cockle pickers in Morecambe bay.
She was fired for making racist jokes.

Yesterday Philip Clarke said:
"I have behaved very stupidly and bitterly regret it."

Black Labour MP Dawn Butler says:
"This shows the Tories haven't changed a bit."

Who, may I ask, even thinks of that disgusting and negative word these days?
It went out of our vocabulary years ago.
Rightly so.

This just shows the true nature of the Tories and the way they have always been.

Do we want these kind of people running this country?

No Thankyou.

In Asda today we were laughing about some of the funny things that has happened at work.
So I thought I would tell you about one in particular that we found very funny, I hope you do to.

A group of us was chatting among ourselves while it was quiet in the store, when an elderly gentleman come up to us and asked if we knew where the bog roll was.
One of the new young lads, who was very eager to please, turned and with a big grin on his face and said:
"Yes sir, isle 25."

The elderly gentleman nodded and thanked us as he turned and walked towards the isle.
Time went on and when I was walking towards the door to go for my break I noticed the elderly gentleman walking around isle 25 looking a little confused.
"Can I help you?" I asked. "You were asking for the toilet roll wasn't you?
The gentleman looked a little embarrased and turned to me and said in a very quiet voice.
"well, no". He said. "I actually asked for Bovril."

Well, after the lovely holiday and beautiful weather The One Writing The Message Is Smiling it was back to work on Monday.....with our new uniforms.

We have plain black trousers and a bright green blouse. Bright Green Bright Green
The trousers believe it or not are hipsters, because that is the fashion, but on the women our our ages??!!

The blouse sizes are small , medium or large.
Well, they tend to come small anyway so most of us ordered the larger size, it's best to have a bigger size because when you are packing bags etc you are always bending and stretching.
bending and stretching
Custom Smiley
Well are they larger or what!!! They are huge. Short sleeves or long sleeves ??? The long sleeve ones are too long
which means they get tangled up with whatever you are doing.
The short sleeves ones are too short. Regardless of what size you have.

Then because they are so big around the tummy you feel like a great big balloon.

They are the worst ever. We hate them.

Who designs these bloody uniforms???????

You feel like a sack of sh*t tied in the middle.
sack tied in the middle.
Custom Smiley

I don't know about Twinning doing raids but I reckon we should all raid Asda House.

We will strip them of their nice fancy suits and put them in our black trousers and green blouses and parade them around outside in front of everybody.

I bet they would feel such fools and look twats like we do.

Marc Bolan.

Today is the 30th anniversary of the death of Marc Bolan.

I can not believe it is that long ago, it sems like yesterday when he was performing on the stage. He was very flamboyant, colourful, and his music was fantastic.
I still have his first two L.P.s he made and I still play them.

He is surely missed and there will never be another Marc.

He is an icon.

God bless you Marc.

God bless you Luciano, you can sing with the angels now.

R.I.P. Angel

Yes, thankyou, we had a lovely holiday. Thumbs Up

We went to Torquay for a fortnight and the weather was beautiful. So hot.
We went everywhere from Torquay to Teignmouth, Exeter, Plymouth, Bodmin and Dartmoor.

We went through all the little villages and we spent hours on the Dartmoor Moors and Bodmin Moors.

While we were in Dartmoor, well, we had to go to the prison in Princetown didn't we?
Geoff begged them to take me but to no avail.
So I just took a picture of the front door.
Just in case, then I would know where I am if I ever have to go there again.

The hotel where we stayed "The Rainbow" was like fawlty towers.
We had no clean towels for four days because we weren't told to put the dirty ones in the bottom of the shower so then they would know we needed clean ones. Only found that out when another guest heard us complaining about the dirty towels. We should have been told but no-one did.

The shower was so small geoff couldn't even get in it. There was black mould growing in it, and although we told them nothing was done about it.
It was what I call those "Closed in" showers where you pull the doors around you. Well, I suffer with claustrophobia so that was out of the question, I showered with the doors open.

The toilet seat broke (well geoff was using it and he is 23 stone)
I don't think it was actually cleaned anyway, we could never smell bleach.

We were in the room when the cleaner came to clean the room (A young man) and I asked him how long he would be and he said: "oh, about ten minutes."
That says it all. How we laughed.

The beds one double, one single, was like something out of Dartmoor prison anyway, hard and lumpy.

The food was good but the same every day. Tomato soup was on the menu every night.

But apart from that a good holiday it was too.

Will start blogging again soon.

Stacks of washing and ironing to do.

xxx

P.S. If you ever get a chance to see Chris Chaplin, a comedian, then please do. He is fantasticly funny and a good singer...I brought his c.d. and can't stop playing it.
We saw him twice at the hotel.
Love to see him again.

At work the other day, I was working on the four self scan tills we have, when an elderly lady called me over to say she had put £20.00 in the till but she had not received the change.
I looked at the till and saw that the "amount received" was £0.00 I was immediately suspicious of this as it should have read "amount received £20.00, so I explained to the lady that I would have to get the cash office out to check this. She was a little hesitant about this but when I explained that I could not open the tills and that the cash office were the only people with the key, she relented and said that was o.k.

It took some time before anyone came out of the cash office (as always) and she was getting a little impatient. Mind you, so was I by then.

I kept apologising saying they won't be long but time went on and on. In the end she turned and yelled at me:

"You don't believ me do you? What are you saying ......that I didn't put any money in it. That I am a thief and a liar."

Well, everyone turned round and was looking and they were waiting for my reply. Realizing that this situation was just about to get out of hand and that you cannot have a customer yelling that sort of accusation at you in front of everyone, I turned and said:

"No,no, my love, that is what I was just going to tell you....we will refund your £20.00. It has probably got stuck in the drawer of the till."

She then calmed down and nodded her head in agreement.

At that time I then had to run to the checkout manager and eplain what had happened, she said I did the right thing and she then ran to the cash office to get the £20.00.

I smiled at the lady and said:
"Right then, lets put this £20.00 note through."

She smiled and then.....she just burst into tears.

I put my arm around her and said:
"Oh no, please don't cry, I didn't mean to upset you."

She shook her head and said:
"No, my love, it's not you, I have just lost my husband and I can't think straight at the moment."

"Oh, I am sorry, " I said. "You are a regular aren't you?" I asked with a smile."
"We always see you in here and we do so look forward to seeing you, and we always have a laugh don't we?"

In actual fact I did not know this lady at all, really, I was just saying that to calm her down.

She smiled and nodded her head in agreement.

She took her change and I help to pack her bag. She went merrily on her way.
I went back to Gail, the manager, and apologised again and explained what the lady had said.

"It's alright annette." Gail said. "Your right, we do know this lady...she's done this before! And she hasn't just lost her husband....he died five years ago."

You could have knocked me down with a feather.

I have been doing shop work for over 20 years and I can usually tell when someone is coming it. But that lady, well, she had me fooled!

We laughed about it afterwards but I fumed for a while.

I shall watch her if she comes in again, that's for sure.

Ever wondered just how much your employer values you?

Last week at work I went up for my usual break about 10.00a.m. Now, since the smoking ban I do not bother to go out for a ciggie so I just have a bit of cereal and I'm perfectly happy with that.

I went up to the till with my dish of cereal, Rice Crispies to be percise, when Andre, the manager, came up to me and put his arms around me.

"Annette" he said. "congratulations, do you know you've been here for 17 years?"

"Oh yes" I said. "but you get less for murder." I said with a grin.

He ignored this.

He squeezed me a bit nearer to him and with a big grin on his face he said:

"Here, let me buy you your breakfast."

"Thankyou." I said. "Very kind of you."

"Oh, we like to show how much we appreciate long serving staff." He said with a big smile on his face.

I smiled at him as he handed over his card to pay for my breakfast.

Julie ran the price up on the till.

All of 22p.

Can someone please tell me, how do I put pictures and "youtube" on my blog page?

I have been blogging for well over 2 years now, this is not my first blogging site, and I have only just learnt how to put Youtube on my site. But I do not know how to put it actually on my blogging page.

We did not bother with pictures and youtube on my last blogging site. It was not needed.

When I have tried to put pictures on, it took so long, I got so fed up with it and then I deleted it. Patience is not my strong point!

Can you tell me please?

How many times have you tried to blog only to keep getting things popping up on your page saying : ALERT:"Trojan Horse"?
We are sick of seeing this keep popping up on our screen.
We have an anti virus on our computer, so why does it keep happening?

P.S. It has just done it again!!
It's not often I come across an advert that I actually like but I must admit that there is one I love to watch.
It's an advert for a VW Golf car, but it has something that other adverts haven't.

The music for a start:
"Oh, yes I'm the great pretender."

It's playing in the background as the advert is shown.

There is a young, handsome man, always the life and soul of the party, even at work. Laughing and joking with everybody as if he hasn't got a care in the world.Everybody's friend.

Then you see him at home eating a chinese takeaway, and he's looking very sad and lonely.
This is a bit of a shock as it does not go with his profile.
The next day you see him drive to a hotel, he gets out of his car in his usual flippant way and throws his car keys to the doorman, again, laughing as if he is the happiest man around, and then:

shock, horror,

He sees his dream car being driven by another young man,the camera turns and looks at the mans face...suddenly his smile has gone and he looks very sad.
He's so dissappointed because he hasn't got that particular car! You can see and feel the sadness in his face.
The music is still playing......"Oh yes, I'm the great pretender......."

It is a brilliant advert..
Is there one you particulary like?

Of all the blogsites I visit, one of my favourites is Dr. Wang's, he is from palm springs.
He posts some beautiful photos. But on this occasion he has done a blog which rang a bell with me:
"Your most embarrassing moments."

Well you know mine.

Well,it is a good blog and very funny and so is some of the comments made by people who also have had embarrassing moments.

Here are some examples:

empress bee:
43 years ago, when I was expecting my first child I was asked to take a urine sample with me to the hospital. When I got there everyone had these little small jars with a sample.
I brought a mayonnaise jar.......it was full.

burfica:
I was at my specialist office when I went in the bathroom to give a sample, and I knocked the cup over.
"OH SHIT, YOU BASTARD!!!" I yelled.
I walked out to tell them what had happened only to be informed that everyone in the office had heard me.
I had to sit in the office for an hour before I had to wee again.

Or going to the school to drop my son off and end up talking to a group of mums for half an hour, get home and realized I never brushed my hair and it was all sticking to one side and straight up.

sarah:
While roadtripping in CA I had to poop and as there was no rest stop for about 100 miles, the only thing to squat behind was a tumble weed.
It blew away.

marlupe:
One day at work I was on the phone talking to a girlfriend about a date I had been on the night before,(which included "intimate relations") I had no idea I had rested a book on the office intercom.
The whole office had heard me talk about the best sex of the year.
Someone came rushing up to my desk with a look on their face and I looked down and realized what had happened, I was horrified beyond belief!!!

madame x:
exchanging gifts with a boyfriend (serious....wink, wink)...he got me a Seiko "opus" watch Ltd edition.
I got him a beach towel.

That last one is my favourite....I can't stop laughing about it. But, yes, they are all funny. The man with his hair all over the place, I think that's probably happened to all of us, don't you?

If you would like to have a look at his blogsite please go to:

We saw mark today.
He walked slowly into the store, walking stick in hand, limping heavily on his left leg.
His long grey greasy hair hanging lower than his baseball cap, his tracksuit trousers hanging limply from his waist. His tatty, blue trainers looking blacker than ever before.
His wife was with him. Her long greasy hair flowing all over her eyes, in her usual black skirt and so called white blouse. Her shoes are black.
No-one knows her name.
She never speaks.
Mark and his wife are both in their early fifties but she looks 20 years older. They have one son, whom no-one ever sees.

Mark and his wife have been regular visitors to our store and over the years we have seen the way mark has treated her. Sometimes she came in with a split lip other times with a black eye.

They walked around and picked up a few bits and bobs and then came to my checkout.

"Hello Annette." Says mark
I nodded and looked at him, "Hello mark." I said.
"Well what do you think of Gordon Brown then?" He asked.
"Oh, he's fine." I said turning away to pack his stuff as quickly as I could.

He smiled but I ignored that.

"Come on!" Says mark. "Don't just stand there, help annette pack!" He demanded of his wife.
He smiled at me but I ignored that.

She did what she was told and started to pack.

"That's £9.86" I said to mark.

"well, get your purse out." He shouted at his wife.

She did what she was told and got her purse out.

"Thanks annette. See you again." He said with a big smile on his face.

I nodded.

Mark has never worked because he is disabled, she does everyhing for him.

She picked up the shopping and turned to walk away, realizing this mark pushed her to one side, he then stepped in front of her and started to walk ahead. She walked behind.

I watched as they walked out of the store. Mark had a big grin on his face while his wife was walking three paces behind.

Just like she always did.

Every time it's the same, he's always the boss, never letting her do anything without his permission, but then again he never gives his permission.

I watched as he walked out of the door and wondered:

Anyone got a gun?

This is the only time when I have felt I've got to write about the same blog...twice.

The reason for this is because I really do feel that all you want to do is find something, anything at all, to have a go at Tony.

As I said in the last blog and it has been confirmed:
There is insufficent evidence for prosecutors to expect that they could win a conviction in court.

Now, you know as well as I do that during the proceedings, which took 16 months, 4 people were arrested and Tony Blair himself was questioned 3 times by the police.

If John Yates can't find anything illegal after all this, then who can?
I am not criticing John Yates for his handling of this case even
Sir Ian Blair described the inquiry as "meticulous and proportionate."

But if he can't find anything after all that, well, who can?

If the police are keeping things quite then it is because there was nothing illegal about it.

I think we will have to agree to differ on this one.

CASH FOR HONOURS.

HOORAY, HOORAY, THE C.P.S. HAS GOT IT RIGHT!!

Former Prime Minister Tony Blair welcomed the decision not to prosecute anyone over the cash-for-honours allegations which dominated his last year in power.

It all started last March by a complaint from Scottish National Party MP Angus Macneil that four individuals who lent large sums to Labour ahead of the 2005 General Election had later been nominated for peerages.

There were 12 rich backers who together bankrolled Labour's election campaign with loans worth almost £14 million.

The enquiry saw 4 people arrested, including Lord Levy,Downing street aide Ruth Turner, entrepreneur Prof Sir Christopher Evans and former member of the council of the specialist schools and Academies Trust, Des Smith.

Mr. Blair who was questioned 3 times by police said he was "very pleased" that no-one would face trial. All those concerned had been put through a "terrible, even traumatic time."

The head of the Crown Prosecution Service's Special Crime Division,Carmen Dowd, said there was insufficient evidence for prosecutors to expect they could win a conviction in court.

Assistant Commissioner John Yates, who led the police investigation, defended his handling of the case as "absolutely proper."
And he won the public backing of his boss, Sir Ian Blair, who described the inquiry as "meticulous and proportionate."

Prime Minister Gordon Brown said he hoped the decision would "bring an end to what has been now months of speculation."

In my view, justice has been done!

I can't wait for the summer to be over.
I'm not being a bore, but I can no longer stand to see young men with their trousers below their bum.
I'm sick of seeing their pants.
I can't stand this fashion craze.

Go on, say it, I'm getting old!

Do you agree with bringing back the death penalty?

There are times when I would willingly agree with the death penalty, and even fight to bring it back.
I say sometimes because there has been occasions when the death penalty has been used for the wrong reason.
A perfect example of this would be Ruth Ellis.

Ruth Ellis was hanged on 13th July 1955.

She was convicted of murdering her boyfriend.
A man that had abused her and she could not take it anymore.

However, there was and still is a lot of people who believe that she should not have been hanged. She should have been imprisoned with the chance of being released.

However, when it comes to terrorists then that is a totally different matter.
What do we do with them?
Imprison them, and for how long?

There has been talk of treating them like prisoners of war. I actually agree with this. They would have no special treatment.
As long as they are put away for the rest of their lives.
That way they cannot harm anyone.
We must build a special prison for them, something like Alcrataz.

Or do we go back to the days of the death penalty and hang them?

If we hang them then surely it would be a deterrent to others?

YOU ARE A THINKER.

You have a vivid capacity for imagery that allows you to see beyond your present circumstances.

A lot of your time is spent at home, or with the people you care about.
Although you may dream often, you're very aware of how things work, and you value things thta work well.

You prefer a set routine and you take comfort in the familiar, you are hesitant to take risks.

Sometimes you doubt weather you have the ability to face certain challenges, but your practical focus helps you solve most problems.

You have a broad-based, theorectical understanding of the world that allows you to understand it's workings.

You much prefer to have time to plan for things, feeling better with a schedule.
You tend to believe that things happen for a reason, and that not everything is under our control.

It does go on a bit more about how I trust others, prefer to have a small group of friends than be in large crowds.
Also relating to others, and understanding their emotions.
How I like to look at all sides of a situation before making a judgement, particulary when that situation involves important things in other peoples lives.

I am, apparently, a good listener.

Mr Policeman said they got it spot on with him and they seem to have with me as well, so why not go along and give it a go?

It's surprising what you find out isn't it?
I was very interested in Dickiebo's blog about U.F.O's. The reason is because my hobby is astromony, the planets, and of course is does make you wonder if there is anybody else out there.
We know that there is nothing in our solar system but us.
But what about all the other solar systems?
Are there aliens out there trying to contatc us?

On the documentary programmes there is a programme called "The UFO files."

It is fascinating.

It recalls many incidents, mainly pilots, that recall seeing U.F.O's one in particular happened in Mexico.

It was the 8th August 1994, an aeroplane was flying through mexico to go to the United states of America when the pilots reported seeing a flying object flying along side them! It was round and silver object
They radioed in and asked if there was any other aircraft that should be so close, but the operator said he could not see anything.
Suddenly the object shot forward very quickly and nearly crashed into the nose of the aeroplane.
It was not seen again.
It frightened the pilots and they said they had never been so scared in all there lives.

There have been many other reports of U.F.O's and even some video footage, but no-one can explain what these objects are.
Mostly they are silver coloured and shaped as the classical objects we have all heard of the "flying Saucer."

We will probably never know the real answer to these questions but it is interesting isn't it?

Sunday, July 08, 2007

I have just sat down and looking through the T.V. channels I saw that "What not to wear" was just beginning.
It's not my fav programme but thought I would watch it for a change. No punn intended there.
Well, usually the women on that programme are quite young but have forgotten how to dress for the best, but on this occasion it was for menopausal women.

Well, that rings a bell.

There was two women who had become, shall we say, "lazy" dressers. It's not that they looked that bad, they didn't, but both of them were just wearing jeans and jumpers/t-shirts. Like must of us when we get home from work we just throw on anything that we feel comfortable in.
However, when talking to these two particular women, they both said that they just don't feel good enough in themselves to "bother" to get dressed up for anything or anyone.

One woman in particular started to cry and she explained that since she started going threw the menopause, she felt invisable and that everyone seemed to "glaze" over her. She also said that she "just could not be bothered."

Well, that rings a bell.

That is just how you do feel, on one hand you want to look your best so you feel better in yourself but on the otherhand you cannot be bothered with it, as nothing fits you and you do not know what to wear.
Suddenly, you find yourself looking at the older persons style clothing and wishing you could squeeze into that size 12 dress you have had for years.
Fashion also plays a big part in this. It is aimed for the young and trendy. You suddenly find out that you are not anymore.
You walk away from the shops feeling fat, fat ,fat, and totally depressed because those days have gone.

God I really associated with those two women and I'm sure many other ladies did as well.

Getting older is a funny thing isn't it? Not much fun either.

I won't depress you anymore, so I'll stop moaning now.

I'm off to have that slice of chocolate cake.

Late one night a man and a women were driving along a country lane when something ran out in front of them. The man braked hard but he hit whatever it was.
They got out of the car and ran around to it.
"Oh my god," The lady said "Look it's a skunk, and it's shivering and breathing very fast and hard."
"Yes," Said the man. "It's in shock,it's shivering because it is cold, put it between your legs and keep it warm."
"WHAT!" The lady exclaimed. "But it smells."
"That's all right." The man said. "Tell it to hold it's nose."

"Sainsburys staff shamed themselves at a glittering awards party with a drunken night of debauchery and mayhem."
700 staff, many of them store bosses and regional managers had gathered for the event on Thursday evening.

That is what the papers are saying today after Sainsburys staff had a wild weekend away at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, South Wales.

It started with a champagne reception followed by an awards dinner.

A male and female, both bosses, both married, had to be dragged apart by security staff as they simulated sex on a sofa in the foyer. The pair started kissing and the lady (if thats what you can call her) lifted up her skirt as other guests looked on. Then when she lifted up her top, security staff rushed over to seperate them. They were not very pleased with this action.
One member of staff has said: They were going it like hammer- and -tongs on the sofa and they didn't want to be stopped."
The furious couple then set off two fire extinguishers in the reception.
They returned to his room where the glass of the fire alarm was later found smashed.

Other members of staff were urinating in lifts and stairways.
By the early hours of Friday morning, many of the Sainsburys staff were so drunk that they could only cling to the rails of escalators taking them from the basement suite to a guest bar for late-drinkers on the ground floor.

What happens to people when they go away? Now, I'm all for a good time and a laugh, but there has to be a limit, don't you think?
They are adult people and they should know better.
Apart from when they wake up the next morning with the splitting headaches and feeling sick. But also the fear and dread of remembering what they got up to.
That must be the worst of it all, those two in particular are married, so how do they explain that to their partners? Then they have to face their friends at work and that, to me, would be the worst. In fact I don't think I could have faced them. I would have handed in my notice and never gone back.
Then no matter how many years you have been there or how hard you worked whilst there, you would always remember how you left.

The shame of it all.

It's 12p.m. and geoff is still in bed. In fact I have just taken him up yet another cup of tea.
My god, it's alright for some isn't it?

I can't wait for my retirement!

I love watching police series on T.V. The Bill, New Tricks (my fav). But I had to laugh this morning.
I was watching Juliet Bravo.
There was two Sergeants and only one policeman on duty!!!

Don't think that will be enough police officers these days, do you?

Well, I've just had a funny experience.

On friday nights I take geoff out to the legion so he can play snooker with his best friend brian.
It also gives geoff a chance to have a drink as I never go out now and geoff is always driving so he cannot drink.

So, I drive to the legion, dropped geoff off and then went back to the bypass to drive home.
When I got to the bypass there was quite a lot of traffic on it so I indicated to join them and waited for a gap.
After a while this man in a white car pulled over to let me out. I put my hand up to him to thank him and drove on. The man in the white car then drove off very quickly. When suddenly, I saw this black car come up alongside me.
Now there was a speed limit on the bypass of 40 m.p.h. because they had been working on it. Everyone acknowledged that speed limit.
The man in the black car was still driving alongside me but I wasn't too bothered by this but I thought it was strange, as normally, they would just go speeding off.
I kept looking around, as you do on a bypass, when I looked to my right hand side expecting to see the black car alongside me again when I noticed.....The black car had disappeared!!

I looked around in astonishment.
Where was he?
Where did he go?

I know he didn't speed off because the car in front was the white one that let me out.
There was nowhere to turn off, it is a very long straight road.
He hadn't slowed down and gone behind me because there was a grey one behind me.

He hadn't crashed because we would have seen and heard that.

I searched high and low for him but I never did see him again!

So, please tell, if you can work it out.....where did the man in the black car go!!

Jim Gamble, is the Deputy Director general of the U.K.'s National Crime squad and is the senior officer responsible for tackling online child abuse.

In 2003, the Virtual Global Taskforce (VGT) was established, bringing together jim, law enforcement agencies and corporate partners including microsoft. The founding law-enforcement members of the taskforce are the National Crime Squad, the Australian High Tech Crime Centre, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the US Department of Homeland Security and Interpol.
The award winning VGT's mission is to prevent child abuse and deter child-abusers by using the very same medium on which they operate: the internet.

In january 2004, jim kicked off Operation Pin in the UK,USA,Canada and Australia. It centres on an internet site purporting to contain child abuse material.
However when they have logged on to this site, it tells them that their name and address have been reported to the police.

They are hoping that this is a deterrent. If they know that they have been reported to the police, they may not go to this site again.

However, Jim Gamble, it is reported has come up with a new idea of not sending paedophiles to prison but to get them the medical help they need.

Yet he has had great criticism with his idea. I really don't know why as it is obvious that they do need help.
If a crime has been commited you may agree that they should be imprisoned like any other criminal but in these cases, I do not think that prison is the answer.

What help do they get in there?

They need professional help from a psychiatrist.

But should they be allowed to walk the streets free? Surely they should go somewhere safe, for us and for them.
Perhaps in a special home for the time they have their treatment, and only be allowed to leave when they are cured.

If they could stop just one person from committing such terrible crimes then that is one person they have helped.

It will be a start and perhaps we could reduce the number of paedophiles.
When looking through the police blogs I have noticed a few that have not blogged for a long time.

The naked cop, last post.....feb 23rd

Another constable, last post.....just gone!

Dogeatsman, last post......feb 6th

Bobby slot, last post.....feb 5th

The chicken run policeman, last post.....march 8th

P C Potshot, last post....april 5th

Can someone please tell me where they are?

Thanks

My god the sun is shining after 3 days of pi....oh sorry, I mean persistant rain.
I have hung my washing out and now will do the garden. Which I may add, I do enjoy.

That's great but now Geoff is in bed with......man flu!!!

I'm going to buy a big bar of chocolate...and eat the bloody lot!!!

What a better way to end the Bank holiday!!

Sunday, May 27, 2007

I don't think I have ever felt so down for a long time.
I am sat here watching the rain falling, and listening to it spitting at my windows.

It's a bank holiday and as always the weather is awful.

It's not that we had anything in particular planned but when it's dark and raining it's depressing isn't it?

Sorry to be a moaner.

I'll stop now!
I didn't have to think to hard to work out which 5 people I would like to meet in heaven.
But there was one person I thought of straight away.... .........God.
The reason for this is not because I am particulary religious because to be honest, I'm not.
But if he is there then at least I know he does actually exist.

This, of course, goes back to my other blogs.

Which do you believe, God or Science?

Sunday, May 20, 2007

I have just read Dickiebo's blog and here is my 5 people I would like to meet in heaven.
They are not in any particular order.
Apart from the first one.

1 God
2 Harold Wilson
3 Marc Bolan
4 Princess Diana
5 Martin Luther King

The Perfect Murder: Panorama.

When ever you talk about the perfect murder everyone thinks immediately of "Jack the Ripper."
In 1888 he murdered 5 women, he has never been caught.

This makes you wonder how many more have been murdered and the murderer never caught.
Well, in fact since pre world war 2 there has been 150 unsolved murders.

In Suffolk one man has even tried to copy "Jack the Ripper." He has killed 5 women and he has never been caught.

Here is a list of the unsolved murders since 2000.
2001 Unknown boy River Thames "Torso in the Thames"
Victim.

2002 Amanda Dowler, Walton-on-Thames

She was 13 years old
when she was abducted.
A friend saw her walk
along Station Avenue
towards her home.
This was the last
confirmed sighting of
her.

2003 Shafilea Ahmed, Warrington Cheshire,

She had been missing for a week before anyone
had reported her missing. In Feb 04 she was found in the river Kent.

2004 Jenny Abbot Eastbourne .

She was 15 years old and was last seen
getting in a car.

2004 Alistair Wilson, Nairn, Inverness

He was shot dead at
home, after his wife
opened the door to his
killers. There appears
to be no motive.

2006 Jesse James, Moss side, Manchester.

He was shot. It appears to be mistaken identity
There are no witnesses.

2006 Tania Nicol, Ipswich, Suffolk "Ipswich Ripper"
Gemma Adams
Anneli Alderton
Paula Clennell
Annette Nicholls

It's hard to believe, with all the fingerprints and D.N.A. we have now, that there are still unsolved murders.

But what I find extradinary is that there are no witnesses to any of these murders.

I have just been through the blogs and,as usual, I always read Emmas.
Well, she has a test for us.

What Tarot card are you?

Now,to be honest, I'm not a fan of tarot cards. I'm not into anything spiritual or any of those things because it scares me.

However I had a go and filled out the quiz.
This is what they came up with:

YOU ARE THE EMPRESS

Beauty, happiness,pleasure,success,luxury,dissipation

The Empress is associated with venus, the feminine planet, so it represents, beauty, charm, pleasure, luxury and delight.(??) You may be good at home decorating , art or anything to do with making things beautiful.

The empress is a creator, be it creation of life, of romance,of art or business.
While the Magician is the primal spark, the idea made real, and the high.
Priestess is the one who gives the idea a form, the Empress is the womb where it gestates and grows till it is ready to be born. This is why her symbol is Venus, goddess of beautiful things as well as love. Even so,the Empress is more Demeter, goddess of abundance, then sensual Venus. She is the giver of Earthly gifts, yet at the same time, she can, in anger withold, as Demeter did when her daughter, Persephone, was kidnapped. In fury and grief, she kept the Earth barren till her child was returned to her.

So, I may be good at decorating.......have you just read my other blogs about that?
I could not decorate to save my life!!
As for all the beauty, pleasure, luxury etc.......I wish!!
As for the anger.....well, you know what I'm like.

It's nice to read but what do you believe?

Anyway, I'll let you decide.

Tuesday, May 15, 2007

Phew, what a busy couple of weeks we've had.

The first was the election and you know the result of that. Then we had our living room decorated. Geoff can no longer do any decorating as he is not physically able, and it's no good asking me. I just cannot paint, and as for putting up wall paper, forget it. I have never done it in my life, and I will probably put it on upside down, sideways,or just back to front. I really should learn but then again, perhaps not!
So, geoff asked a friend of ours if he could paint our living room, and he agreed. Well, he's done a lovely job. The living room is now sky blue. It really cheers you up when you decorate, doesn't it? Well, I should say when someone else decorates!
We emptied the living room and my god, we were surprised at the rubbish we have kept all these years! Now we have decided, when we put everything back that we would throw out all the things we don't really want or need. Funny how you collect something "just in case we might need it someday" and of course, you never do, do you?

Anyway,we thought we would go away for the weekend to get out of his way.We decided to go to Western-super-mare on saturday and to Oxford (My home town)to see the family,on sunday. So off to Western we went. We booked into a hotel when we got there. It was on the sea front so the view was lovely. However, we still didn't see the sea.
We used to go there a lot when we had Becky our beautiful dog, but since loosing her, 4 years ago, we stopped going. You know what it's like.
So, saturday morning we drove down to Western and we did our usual, stopped for breakfast, at the Little Chef.We had a full english breakfast and it was lovely. I never eat breakfast so it was a treat for me.
Got to Western at midday and went for a walk on the beach, now the sea was just going out, in fact we were surprised we could see it!
Then we went for a walk in the town and saw a chinese restaurant that did a lunch special. Well, mention chinese to us and that's it. So in we went.. we had a lovely three course meal.
We were so full we had to go back to the beach to walk that off!
The day went and we went back to the hotel for a rest, and after a quick little nap we got ready to go out for the evening. Now, we had only taken a few things with us because we were only staying one night.
So I changed into my fav top (with the same pair of jeans I had worn all day!) and off we went.
We drove into the town, of course being saturday night it was packed, we walked around wandering what to do when we saw it. An Indian restaurant! Well mention a curry to us and that's it! So in we went.
We had a lovely meal and a nice bottle of wine.
Coming out of the restaurant, it was pouring with rain so we couldn't walk that one off.I thought I was going to burst.
We drove back to the hotel and just flopped on to the bed. We couldn't move!!
Sunday we got up and dressed and went down for breakfast. It was then we realised just how much we had eaten. I couldn't believe it.Normally I only eat once a day. Just the main meal at night. If we do go out for a meal we don't even have a starter.
Driving to Oxford we stopped for a coffee (Now that's what I do all day, just drink coffee) and believe it or not we had a snack.
We drove back and when we walked into the living room we were delighted with the decorating, the room looks so nice and fresh now.
Usually on Sundays we have a roast but, not wanting to cook at that time, we had a chinese takeaway!

Now, it's time to put everything back into the living room. It's all upstairs in the spare bedroom at the moment. I will be glad to get up and do some excercise and get back to normal!

Im glad we had it done but thank god it doesn't happen that often, I could not stand eating that much again!

Geoff said we would have to go on a diet. I readily agreed.

It must have been the sea air.

Even though we did not see much sea!!!

Sorry I haven't blogged for a while but we have been so busy with the local elections.

Here is the result of the Hagley ward:

Steven Colella: 1,160 (Con)
Christopher Scurrell: 997 (Con)
Annette Hulett: 214 (Lab)

We arrived at the Council House for the count at 11.00 p.m.
We left at 2.30 a.m.

Hagley was the last one of the night!

Although no-one was disappointed with the Hagley result because we know it is an Conservative area. Always has been, probably always will be.

However I loved canvassing and meeting so many nice people.

I loved it.

We had one really disappointing result, Geoff lost his seat, to the Conservatives.

However, never be put off, this happens in politics as you all know. You have your ups and downs.

We went out last night for an Indian meal and a booze up.
It was lovely and we had a great night.

I would willingly do it all again.
