An english visitor to a small welsh village was approached by one of the deacons of the local chapel who asked him if he was going to attend the chapel on the sunday.

"Wouldn't that be a little pointless." said the man. "All the services are held in welsh, and I don't understand the language."
"Ah," said the deacon."But the collection is in english."

A prominent welsh minister travelling home at night was greatly annoyed when a young man, much the worse for drink, came and sat next to him.

"Young man." he declared."Do you not realize you are on the road to perdition?"

"Oh hell." said the young man. "I could have sworn this bus goes to Llanelli."
I've just had a week off work and I must admit I've really enjoyed it. We all need a break from work sometimes, don't we? We all have a weeks holiday in February, after the christmas rush we need one.
This is when I do my spring cleaning, and I really enjoy it. I know the weather hasn't been so good but at least it wasn't raining.
So on monday I started to clean all the cupboards out, I do do that anyway but I mean really really cleaned them out. I felt I had really done something good. Feeling rather tired I did go to bed quite early thta night. However I went to get up on tuesday and couldn't move. My back had gone on me. My back is terribly weak, and I couldn't move all day. I nearly stayed in bed but decided not to as it would have been worse by wednesday. I have to excercise my back and although I was in terrible pain, I did manage to do some excercises. I took a hell of a lot of painkillers as well. I overdosed on them actually, but I have to to get through the day. When I say overdose I mean I just double up on them. Instead of taking 2 every 4 hours I take 3 maybe 4. Wrong I know but I can't take the pain unless I do.

Anyway, on wednesday we decided to go to Ikea in Walsall. At first I was worried about my back but then I thought that the more I walk the better. We were looking for flooring so we could do our kitchen and bathroom. So off we went.
We arrived at Ikea about 11.30.a.m. and we were just looking around at first not looking for anything in particular. After a while we decided to go to the canteen and have a bit of lunch. We've been there before and have always enjoyed the meals.
After lunch we decided to go to the flooring department.
We weren't quite sure what to get but I did fancy having wood paneling in the kitchen. We saw what we wanted and we decided we wouldn't get it today as we have to ask someone to fit it for us. So we would go back and get it when we knew someone could fit it for us.
We were just going to leave that department when geoff went to put his jacket on, he had taken it off because he got warm walking around, he picked his jacket up and put his arm through the sleeve when...... crash....he had accidently hit a sign post that was hanging up. We both laughed as everyone turned round to find out what the noise was.
We then walked down to the warehouse to go customer services to ask them whether we needed to put anything under the panelling. As it happens we do, so a young lady took us to the warehouse where she showed us a roll of soft paperlike underfelt that we needed to put on the floor before placing the wood panelling. It was on the bottom shelf and geoff bent down to have a look at it, as he got up he banged his head on a shelf. Luckily the only thing that was hurt was his pride.
Thanking the young lady for her help we explained that we did not want to buy it just then, and would come back for it.
We turned and walked down the aisle, as we did this I turned and accidently knocked the plastic strip off the end of the aisle,(the pricing strip I mean), it made me jump and I quickly turned away form it, the plastic strip then twanged back into geoff.
We have never laughed so much. I said to geoff that things come in threes, and that day it did!

So, after that, we stayed at home on thursday and today we just went into town and did the usual friday shopping.
It has been a very nice week and I do feel better for it, I must admit.
Back to work monday, so I will look forward to that. I am joking of course!!

Did the earth move for you last night?

Well, it's getting nearer to spring. My favourite time of the year.

When the flowers start to pop their heads out of the wintry ground, when the nights are lighter, and the sun is warmer.

Quite frankly we haven't had a very good winter, at all.

As you probably know, Laura discovered she had breast cancer and I lost my brother-in-law, Jeff, suddenly with a brain heamorrage.

Laura will be having her operation to remove her breast on Friday 14th. March 2008.
We were all hoping that she wouldn't need the operation but although the cancer has shrunk because of the chemotherapy she's had, I'm afraid she will still need the operation.
She's being very good and brave about it, her attitude is:"I've got it, I've got to learn to live with it."

My sister Yvonne, looks a lot better than she did. I think it was just the sheer shock at what happened to Jeff, she has been through an awful time. She was telling us about how many things she forgot to do. For instance, she was still driving their car when someone asked her if she had changed the insurance. Well, she had never even thought about it, to be honest.
We saw her this weekend and she did look a lot better.

As the saying goes:
It can only get better.

Ours has, we can get a few channels but they are fuzzy and not very good.

We have all heard of the Northern Rock crisis and now it seems, thanks to P.M. Gordon Brown, it has been saved.
He has nationalized the bank whose aid package from public funds is estimated at 57 billion pounds. (about 114 billion U.S.. dollars.)
The Northern Rock crisis began when depositors started a run on the bank as a result of the credit crunch sparked by default on U.S. sub-prime mortgages market.
In terms of the British economy, the Prime Minister said the economy has been tested many times since 1997.

Gordon Brown contributed Northern Rock's collapse to an "unsound business plan."

He said that the banks problems had not spread to other institutions, which could show that the tripartite system was "Working well."
The tripartite means: The Government, Financial Services Authority and The Bank of England.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown has said that:

I guarantee the loans made to Northern Rock are backed by its assests."

Alister Darling, the Chancellor said:"We are absolutely right to intervene in the Northern Rock crisis and we will take time to consider the best future for Northern Rock."

Alistair Darling spoke positively about the economy, saying it is growing well with high employment and low inflation.

I agree, it is right that they interevene.
Yesterday we had to take snowdrop to the vets,(see pictures on the right).
She had to have her booster injection. Thats for cat flu and the like.
Well, as I said before getting her into the basket was a job of it own. She has scratched me a couple of times and she kept running away from us so I shut the catflap so she couldn't run out, you have to think ahead don't you, and on the third attempt we managed to get her in the basket.

Anyway we got her there and the vet gave her her jab and after a quick examination, off we went. Took about 10 mins thats all.

When we got back she ran into the kitchen and stayed there for about 30 mins. We tried to coax her out but she wasn't having any of it so then we tried to feed her. She was a bit reluctant but she did finish it in the end.

Today she is very quite and at the moment she is sat outside the back garden sunning herself in the sun. Shes very quiet and subdude

We do feel so sorry for her I must admit, thank god you only have to do it once a year.

I have just deleted that last post because I do feel embarrased about the whole thing. Thats why I hadn't told you about it before. But you know when you just have to let off steam about a certain problem and I've had it for so long.
Thanks for your lovely comments it really does make you feel good to know that people care about you.

Will continue to try to give up the dreaded smoking!

Thanks again.
